It is wide angle, which means it lets in more light and allows you to take pictures in darker settings without using a flash. You can't tell from this picture, but I took this at 7:45 last night after the sun had gone down.
Off the subject- I love when my baby wears blue. If I could I would dress him in blue every day. Those eyes, that hair (yes I realize his hair isn't fixed and probably needs to be cut), but still...precious.

Another thing this lens does is it gets greater aperture than my other lens.
See how Rocky's nose is in focus and the rest of the background is blurry? That is one of the cool features of this lens. I'm not going to bore you with all the technical photography mumbo jumbo...I was just very excited to get my new toy.

New soccer shoes! They are snot/slime green. It's a distraction tactic...I think. Maybe not. All I know is he is very excited about them. He is playing indoor and outdoor so they will be getting a lot of use. So if you see a guy on the soccer field with alien looking feet...that's my husband.
