My trip- day 2

On the second day of my trip my sister took me to walk around DC to see the monuments.  It is just a quick Metro ride away.  I found the Metro very interesting.  Or should I say, I found the people on the Metro very interesting.  Coming from a city in Oklahoma where almost every guy lets "ladies first" through doorways, I was surprised to find that the Metro attitude is very much "every man for himself".  I also observed that a lot of people on the Metro talk to themselves.  And that's not to say that people in Oklahoma don't talk to themselves, your just not sitting two feet from them.  I talk to myself all the time, but I'm in my car...alone.

I have been to DC before so we didn't do a thorough tour, just enough for me to snap some pictures and take in the views of the monuments.  They truly are incredible.

My absolute favorite monument is the WWII Memorial.  It wasn't built the last time we visited DC so we  spent a lot of time there.  It is breathtaking.

I found my state.  It felt like home.  Then I burst into song...

"Ooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain,
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oooooklahoma, ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say--Yeeow! A-yip-i-o-ee ay!
We're only sayin' You're doin' fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma--O.K.!"

There is something very magical about this memorial.  It gives you that tingly, lump in your throat, proud to be an American kind of feeling.  You should go see it.

Right now.

Go!

Besides seeing the monuments one thing I saw a lot of was my sisters rear end.  She walks fast.

In fact, I think the only time she stopped was to put this hat on JR.

It stayed on 5.2 seconds.  Just long enough for me to take this picture.  He just wasn't havin it!

But he was a trooper.  He rode in the stroller without so much as a peep.

I made Jill stop and take some "senior pictures".

I'm going to print some wallets for her to pass out so be sure to ask her for one.

  1. I'm thinking that last one is looking more like a KD composite pic than a senior pic? ;) Lookin' good, Jill! Glad you had such a fun time with your sista!
