My trip- day 4 (and sort of 5)

Sunday, my last day of the trip began low key.  My sister made breakfast and then we headed to the Eastern Market to do some shopping.  The market had crafts, clothes, jewelry, art, food…you name it.

Even big pink hats...

And patient husbands who had to man the stroller and watch these crazy women try on ridiculously large hats...

I convinced myself not to buy something just to buy something.  It helped that I had $4 in cash and most booths didn’t take credit cards.  But I found a booth of an artist who had something right up my alley.

Notecards with dogs on them!  She had two that looked just like Tia and Rocky and I knew I had to have them.  One problem...I didn't have enough cash.  So you want to know what she said to me?

I was shocked.

"Oh, just mail me a check when you get home."

Seriously, who does that?

Enid Romanek.  That's who.  What a trusting, genuine person to say "hey I have known you for one minute, but I'm going to give you my work and trust that you will pay me for it".  (And I did send her a check of course).

Here are the notecards...

Look familiar?

My girl T just cannot keep that tongue in her mouth.  It is her trademark look.  I love how the card captured that.

See any similarities?

I just love Rocky's markings.  My beautiful boxer boy.

Unfortunately, she didn't have any pug cards.  Cause you know I would have bought those too.  But it was nice to find some boxer things.  I have a lot of pug stuff (thanks to my mom).  If there is a craft fair in Green Country and they have anything with a pug on it- my mom has bought it.

JR, once again, was a trooper.  I think his stroller is pretty comfortable though...just sayin.

We had such a great time at the market we sort of lost track of time and ended up rushing just a little to make sure I made my flight.  I hate rushed goodbye's, but looking back it might have been easier that way.  My sister is moving across the world for 2 years.  That is one BIG goodbye.  I am so glad I got to take this trip to spend some time with them before they leave...

on a jet plane...

don't know when they'll be back again.

Sorry, I live my life in song.

I had a great trip, but unfortunately my flights home were not so great.  It was the same night that the tornado hit Joplin so all the flights were delayed due to storms.  My flight was delayed, then cancelled, then I got on another flight, then it was delayed.

Blah, blah, blah.

I was supposed to be home at 7:30, but I didn't end up getting to my house until 3:30 am.  And of course they lost my luggage.  I could rant and rave and relive that experience for you, but now it just sounds like pointless whining.  After seeing the devastation those storms caused I am just thankful that I have a house to come home to.  Waiting in an airport, eating Chex Mix for dinner doesn't sound so bad in the big scheme of things.

And that was a great reminder for me.

When your flight is delayed due to storms be glad you are safe.  There is someone who is in the middle of that storm.

When you are sick of fighting a cold remember there is someone fighting cancer.

When you are shocked by the price of gas remember that it is a convenience to have a car.

When you are complaining about keeping your house clean remember there is someone in a shelter.

When you are annoyed with your parents remember there is an orphan waiting for a chance to have a family.

When your kids are driving you nuts remember there is a grieving mother and father who would give anything to have one more day with their child.

Life is too short.  Don't spend it complaining about the little things.  Be thankful for the important things.

People are made to love.  Things are made to use.  Never confuse the two.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the devastating storms.
