Mason turned three in May and here it is in August and I still haven't accepted it. It's hard seeing him go from a toddler to a big boy.
But he is growing and changing every day. He doesn't toddle anymore, he runs. He doesn't babble anymore, he speaks in full sentences. He doesn't wear diapers anymore because he uses the potty!
(Okay that part actually makes me very happy!)
Mason loves his big boy underwear. So much in fact that he doesn't want to wear shorts anymore. What is the fun of having characters on your underwear if you can't see them, right?
Even though it is hard to say goodbye to his baby and toddler days, it is amazing to experience him turning into a big kid. He is craving independence, which is nice when I need him to do something by himself like getting dressed and putting things away. But when I am running late and he is throwing a fit in the car because he wants to buckle his car seat by himself it can be a little difficult. Independence is great, as long as I factor in 15 extra minutes when trying to leave the house.
He is also becoming very inquisitive. Here is a conversation we had in the car today.
"Mommy are we going home to see daddy?"
"Yes, daddy is at home mowing."
"Daddy's mowing?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because the grass is long."
"Why?"
"Because the grass grows fast in the summer so daddy has to mow it so it doesn't get too long."
"Why?"
"Because...umm...hey you want to sing a song?"
"Okay mommy."
'Why' is a question I get quite often these days. I just have to make sure I give good answers. And if all else fails...
"Because I said so!"
