So we decided it was time to take Mason to the place where Mike first told me he was in love with me.
*Insert "aaaahhhhhh" here...
During July Mason completed his first year of swim lessons and we learned he is a good little fishy so we felt confident he could handle swimming in the lake. We did not counter in the fact that he would be wearing a bulky life jacket and would be moving around like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. But he actually did ok.
So we loaded up 6 adults, 4 kids, 2 coolers and 15 bottles of SPF 50 sunblock and headed to Skiatook for the day.
My niece, Taylor, brought her friend Molly and they enjoyed tubing and hitching rides on the waverunner.
Christina, my sister-in-law enjoyed soaking up some sun
My nephew, Carson, enjoyed riding in the boat and throwing rocks in the water. The bigger the better!
My mom enjoyed riding on the boat too...with her visor of course.
My dad enjoyed some swimming...
and some tubing...
I'm not sure how many 60 year old men you typically see tubing at the lake, but I have to say he rocked it! Go Dad! Meanwhile, Mason and Meme (my mother-in-law) enjoyed riding on the boat and watching all the excitement.
Mike enjoyed swimming with Mason...
riding the waverunner...
and driving the boat...well sort of...
You see my husband has a need. A need...for speed. And pontoon boats just don't have it...at all.
I actually think I saw a few fish pass us and roll their eyes at us. Slimy little things think they just own the lake.
Anyway, I enjoyed...everything. And eating, I always enjoy the eating part. I bought a watermelon and it was delicious and I patted myself on the back for bringing it. And then when it was time to leave I realized there were watermelon seeds all over the boat and changed my mind. Next time I'll bring grapes...and 20 bottles of SPF 75 because my child still managed to get pink on his cheeks. Geesh.
But overall Mason had a great first trip to the lake. We look forward to many more trips in the future!
